Commitment Issues

Oh how I caved in! Friday was such a hectic day and I was so ready to attend a wedding that I abandoned my commitment to this here blog. I'm sorry, you loyal 7 followers.
Due to my participation in weekend activities, I can't even remember what happened on Friday. I remember being glad it was over though! The weekend was extremely fun and much needed!
Today I didn't get to be with my nuggets. I have a two day training about Science, which while fun, seems totally impractical. Maybe tomorrow will change my thinking! I came back to my class room after the training to find 3 nuggets on black, the lowest on the pin chart, 1 on red and 3 on blue. I'm very excited about the blues and unsurprised by the blacks and reds. I also found one of my students in the office. My poor substitute! She's not coming back tomorrow because she felt she was getting sick and couldn't deal with my class with no voice.
So tomorrow they will have someone new to "entertain". This week will be stressful, testing, testing and more testing. Which seems impossible to get done on time. Formal observations are coming up and I can't stop having day-mares about them. Ex. Going deaf mid-lesson, a child starting to speak a different language, parents walking in and yelling. I sense an emotional break down in the near future.
For now, I'll sit on my teacher soulmate's couch, doing school work and laughing at each other!

I didn't have anything in my pockets today, so here is a picture from the wedding! MORE COWBELL!

Ain't no sunshine

I'm in utter shock that today was Thursday. If this week were going any slower, it'd be going backwards. I started off Sunday night saying "This week is going to fly by" it was met with a cynical "What makes you say that?" and I tried to combat with positivity. I have now been slapped in the face with reality.
What a week this has been, I missed blogging last night because I was too busy crawling into bed around 4:15. Today wasn't as bad.
The day, much like the week, just dragged. I couldn't get to 3:30 to save my life. The kids were crazy from being cooped up due to the weather. I thought that maybe the dreary weather would calm the students, lies! It was a day that was meant to be spent in bed with reruns of Law and Order: SVU. Instead it was spent inside all day long with 25 five year olds who just wanted to play outside.
Hopefully there is some sunshine soon!

Today's Pockets:
Erasers: all of these were confiscated from ONE child
Paperclips: ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Pen: I've lost every other one
Tickets: bribery

Bombs away

I really do love rain. The sound it makes, what it does for the earth, the effect it has on your moods, the memories it brings back and the way it made my kids quiet during nap!
It was a miracle how they laid down! It had to have been the weather because I didn't do anything differently than yesterday.
The morning went well, we learned about illustrations and watching the kids describe illustrations to their partners was adorable. I wish they were as cute during Math.I'm still trying to figure out how to make them understand certain things and how to get them to sit still after lunch! It amazes me how each nugget is so different. They are just so little!!
So you would think that their bodily functions would be little too, false! I don't know which nugget it was, and I'm glad because I probably wouldn't be able to look at them the same, passed some astronomically fowl smelling gas during math. Oh sweet baby Jesus, I almost opened a window! Those red beans from lunch were no joke!
I'm ready to be an experienced teacher, this first year thing is for the birds!

Today's Pockets:
Scrunchie: because those shouldn't be allowed anymore
Cube
Paper clip
Pen
Marker
Tickets
The letter N

Wait, it's 11:40 at night?

What a long day! The morning started off with waffles and a sob. Take a moment to picture this: sitting at the kitchen table, waffles, glass of orange juice and me crying like a baby!
I don't know what came over me, I just wanted go crawl back into bed and watch The Way We Were. That wasn't an option though, so I slapped myself and headed to school.
Seeing my nuggets made my morning instantly better! No matter how much they frustrate me, I can't even explain how much I love them!
My morning was the bomb.com! That's not a real URL, and if it is I don't know what it is: this is a disclaimer. The kids were well behaved and actively engaged...until lunch.
What is it about lunch!!? I'm about to start a 5th grade science project to prove my hypothesis that lunch makes kids cray. My commitment issues would probably get in a way of this.
To who ever thought that nap time in Kindergarten: good day sir, I SAID GOOD DAY! You are ruining my life!!!
After much time, my progress reports are ready to be printed and sent home. Yay for angry letters from parents that'll come back!

Monday Pocket's:
Tickets: bribes
Marker: for providing Scarlett letters
Note from Tabby: digits
Block: that's normal right?
Paperclip: forever
And today's show is brought to you by the number: 3

Boiling and buying!

Today was a great day! I mean I would have rather have stayed home and finish Season 3 of Big Love, but it was still good!
Our morning meeting made me question all my life choices, but that usually happens during meetings. Following that I got judged by my mother for eating pizza and Chinese. How do you not eat both?
Afterwards, we headed to my old stomping grounds, CLHS, for a motivational speaker. He was amazing! He was funny, informative and engaging, like any good motivation speaker can do, he made me feel empowered and totally inadequate!
When he was speaking I realized a lot about myself and all the things that make me such a crazy! He also made me feel like I could change the world!
So I guess he motivated me to buy my first Mac! I didn't know what true love was until two hours ago! It is my first real big girl purchase and I couldn't be happier! And to ice the cake I got crawfish! Which we all know is God's gift to Louisiana- "hey, all their land will get erode, give them delicious Crustaceans"
To end the night, homemade rain storms and Harry Potter on Blu Ray with my best friend in anticipation of our tattoos tomorrow!

Parental Guidance

I had eleven out of twenty six conferences today. Not one of them made me profusely sweat, that might have been because it was freezing today!
I'm a hot blooded individual, so I didn't bring a jacket thinking I would be fine, what a mistake! I spent the entire day wishing I was on a beach while my teeth chattered.
Going back to school wasn't all that bad, but it was overwhelming. I'm just ready to see my nuggets and then I'll be ready for the true "most wonderful time of the year"...Mardi Gras! 💜💚💛
Tomorrow is another day full of meetings, then off to Nola for the weekend! Ready for 3:35!

I didn't have fun pockets today, but my kitchen table looked crazy covered in progress reports!

New

I feel like I've cheated! It has been entirely too long since I've shared my thoughts with the seven people who read this blog! But if you're faithful, you already know about my commitment issues.
After concurring the flu, I took on a sinus infection, but after that I was back on my feet! I missed a week of school so my stress level is about the same as Jessie Spano's the night she was suppose to perform at The Max. (Google it, google it now you uncultured swine (google that too)).
Tomorrow starts the second half of the school year, I'm surprised I made it this far! Where did time go? It really is crazy to think that I've tackled a huge part of the year already. I don't get to see my nuggets tomorrow, just their parents. I'm excited to be at a loss for words while sweating profusely from nerves. Its gonna be good!
I'm still waiting for some famous editor or publisher to stumble upon my blog, realize my genius and get me a book deal! Which would lead to my rise in fame, television series/talk show, fundraising foundation and my Kennedy Center Honor. Maybe 2013 is the year to make it all happen. Or it could turn out to a the year I still live with my parents and have to put away dishes nightly, don't go on dates and cry while watching Barbra Streisand movies.
We shall see!
