Nugget Talk

Yesterday started off easy enough. I had duty and the kids we're inside since it was freezing. It's always great to come into a room full of screaming children telling you every single thing everyone did in your absence.
On Friday we have computer lab. Praise Him for that! Although the nuggets haven't grasped the idea of headphones just yet, they talk louder than ever, it's still a quiet time. After getting kicked out by the next class we stopped outside another teacher's room to straigten our lines. Said teacher came outside and from the silence of my nuggets yells "HEY YOU KNOW THAT SONG WITH THE LAZER BEAMS?" Whatttttttttt? I could do nothing but burst out laughing. Seriously where did that come from and why was it important to shout out?
During lunch a kid said "let's talk about how babies are born" I literally had to cover my mouth so I wouldn't spew milk everywhere. How about we talk about absolutely anything else?
The fact that we still have three weeks until Spring Break is a little soul crushing. The nuggets have been acting like gremlins after midnight with an unlimited supply of water. I don't know if it was the full moon or karma but this week was painful.
 Here's to two nugget-less days!

Free haircuts.

I'm the worlds biggest slacker! I don't even remember the last time I filled you faithful seven on the ongoing a of my ever whimsical life.
Since I don't know where I left you let me give you a brief overview:
-I bought a house.
-Grew a jungle in my backyard unkownly.
-I still teach Kindergarten.
- Still temporarily lose all of my sanity while doing so.
-My fast metobalism STILL hasn't come on, even though I ordered it years ago.
I could go on forever about all the crazy things that have happened this year, but inh w words of Sweet Brown, ain't nobody goti time me for that!
I'll just go with today when my classroom was transformed into Truvy's closed in carport salon. ( If you don't immediately recognize what that is from you need to educate yourself!) As I am trusting my almost 1st Graders with scissors to cut out pictures of 3D shapes as sort them, one nugget goes full Truvy and gives herself a haircut. I'm not even sure what my reaction was because I'm pretty sure I blacked out for a moment. Once I recover from the black out I went full on M'Lynn! I wanted know WHYYYYYYY?!?! No excuse. Just lots of tears and shrugs.
On another completely unrelated note, I'm still baffled how my students turn into garbage men the moment they sit on the floor. Seriously, my room should be spotless because all they do is hold up random things with a look of pure amazement saying "I found this". It's like they have never seen a broken crayon or a piece of paper! THROW IT AWAY!

That is all for today! Sorry for my absence, and you're welcome for this epic story of cosmogoly.

2 more days!

I snoozed for two hours today...that takes commitment! I wanted to workout before school because I have a meeting and dinner plans this afternoon....whoops. I'll have to force myself to do it when I get home :/
I want to be back in my routine of waking up at 3:45 and working out without a problem. How did I even do that last year? It's so hard to restart, perhaps I should stop stopping. That might help.
Anyway, yesterday was hectic, but I got all the nuggets in stations and got little books out to all my groups, I'd call success on that! I'm ready for
My PGP's we're reviewed and submitted, one acronym down for the year. Our SLT's don't seem as scary this time around the way they were explained to us yesterday. Fingers crossed.
The yearbooks came in and I had one nugget who just didn't understand why he didn't get one, even though I explained 48383583 times that he didn't even attend our school last year.
There were lots of tears yesterday. Someone's cat died, two nuggets wept over moved clothespins, a few just really hate waking up and one guy just couldn't fit his lunch box, jacket and folders in his school bag.
Here's to hoping that today and tomorrow pass by without nugget tears!

Dragon Be Gone

What a relief, I didn't burn down any villages, phew! Today was a much better day than yesterday! Can I get a woot woot?! (WOOT WOOT!)
Not that today didn't present itself the challenges: The constipated child who threw themselves on the ground while screaming "I CAN'T POO!". This is my area of expertise, I don't have this issue too often in my life, but I'd say it's a totally apporpriate reaction to the given situation.
There was the magic of the highlighter. I'll admit that I'm totally obsessed with highlighters, they actually bring me joy, but today they were my enemy. After using highlighter on 24 progress reports so my parents could clearly see, I threw all of them on the copy machine not thinking. That magical ink doesn't show up on te copy machine, a trick I know and love. But that meant going back and re-highlighting information for my own copy. Such a face palm moment.
Oh and at the end of the day is there anything you want more than a nice booger on your keyboard. Yes, a green slimy booger sat there waiting for me to find! Seriously? There are literally boxes of tissues everywhere! Gahhh!
I was excited though when I was going to put a nugget and his sister in the car in the afternoon and he turned to her and said "Hey guess what I did today, I learned the letter C" which is what I did with him at naptime! I'm glad something stuck!

Dragon

I'm home before 4pm. This hardly ever happens, ecspecially on a Monday, but being in school made me want to pull my hair out! Ever have a moment when someone says/ask something and all you can do is make a face because your verbal response would surely be frowned upon? That was my entire day!
I woke up ungodly early each day over the weekend, but not today! I literally snoozed for an hour! It would have taken much less effort to just wake up than click the side of my phone all the times I did.
I'm not sure what was with me today but I felt like a dragon that just got poked all day long. I was ready to burn down an entire village! Maybe it was the fact that all my pants are about to bust at any second. It could be that it's so hot outside it's like we live on the surface of the sun. Perhaps it's because I spent an hour and a half giving the wrong math assessment. Could be that the amount of things required doesn't match the amout of time given to do them? I'm thinking it's the combination of all of the above, resulting in and overwhelming overload!
Today is like the straw that broke the camel's back. Since I'm not an actual camel, just the size of one, I'll have to pick up the load...tomorrow!

I have no pockets for you today because at the first moment I could, I peeled those  pants off and switched to something I could actually take a full breath while wearing. Working on fixing that!

5 Reasons I Hate Math

I'll need you to read this in your best Lindsay Lohan voice because that's what I sound like right now. You would think I spent the last 24 years of my life smoking a pack a day and drinking Wild Turkey straight from the bottle. I think it's a mixture of sickness and the amout of effort it took to try to make my nuggets do math today.
Oh, my sweet 6 lb 8oz baby Jesus wrapped in swaddling clothes, my nuggets just couldn't get it today. It was ways to make 5, because that's a logical lesson for the 3rd week of school for 5 year olds. I literally broke out, teaching actually made my body produce pimples in a 45 minuet period. The concept we're tryin to teach is definitely confusing, but try adding 25 5 year olds who can't seem to follow a simple direction to the equation...see what I did there? I threw a math word on there, BRILLIANT!
I'm sure every other kindergarten teacher who did this lesson today is feeling the same way I am! There's got to be some trick, I'm just unaware of it at the moment! Jesus take the wheel!
In ELA and Social Living we're learning about families, and I've got to say I'm overly blessed to have such a wonderful work family that can make me laugh when I could cry!

Reasons Why I Hate Math:
1. It's so hard! To teach, to figure out, everything.
2. Numbers, ewwwww.
3. I have not one fond memory involving Math.
4. Google can answer that question for you!
5. THE LIMIT DOESN'T EXISIT! (Google it!)

Cheese Balls

There are just some days when you have to lay in your coworkers classroom, eat cheese balls and drink apple juice from a Sponge Bob cup. Yesterday was that day! It's only a 4 day week, but it isn't going by any faster.
There was the meeting that had 4 people giving information simotsnously, the two parent phone calls, an epic tantrum, the missed bus and the cheese balls. (Those cheese balls were amazing!)
I'm trying to be awesome create this flawless station rotation that'll give my kids a more efficient time at each station, but so far it's a fail! We're currently just practicing walking, sitting down and rotating from station to station. I thought maybe I forgot I was Ariel and sold my voice to the Sea Witch to become human because it was like I wasn't even talking.
The start and the end of the year are always the craziest no doubt, but I'm thinking that the start is just the pits! You have 25 untrained nuggets who want to run around, pick up their friend and then give a warrior cry at the top of their lungs on one hand. Then on the other hand you have mounds of paper work, lessons plans, PLC's, PGP's SLT's, IEP's, ELL reports, modifications, interventions and class shirt order forms! Sheesh, I'm exhausted from just typing that, good thing I'm laying down!
Besides all of that, I get to hang out with a bunch of 5 year olds who are excited about learning, and that is pretty legit! I'm trying to take the things I learned over the past two years and use them to my advantage this year. I have definitely grown, but I still have a long way to go to reach Mrs. Peaches status!
